(…) I was traveling solo and one advantage of going through Smallwood Store was that visiting the museum offered an opportunity to meet and team up with another solo traveler (so we could share the minimum cost). Gary is patient, kind, knowledgeable, skilled, funny, and great company. (…) He also takes great joy in wildlife, which adds to everyone’s enjoyment.

Why Customers Love Our Tours
We booked a sunset tour and ended up having a private excursion with Captain Gary. Loved every minute learning about the Everglades and 10,000 islands. He certainly knows his way around, having lived there all his life. He took us to Pavilion Island and it’s beautiful beach, the rookery where the birds went to roost at sundown, and was able to find the pod of dolphins he knew just about at sunset, so we got marvelous pictures of dolphins with a setting sun! (…)
(…) It turned out that only the two of us had booked a trip for the evening so we were treated to a personalized tour. Captain Shane was wonderful; he knows the complex mangrove islands and channels about them like the back of his hand and he provided us much insight about the area and its wildlife. (…) We watched sunset as we returned to the dock next to the store, stopping by a tiny mangrove island that served as a nightly roost for hundreds of birds, capping off one of the best experiences we have enjoyed in a long time.
